Green in the House

I'm proud to say I've made it about a year since I bought a few house plants and I've KEPT THEM ALIVE!

I've felt like our house needed a little green. I'm not a great decorator and I'm terribly indecisive. But plants? They immediately spruce things up a bit!

I'm hoping the spring brings a few more little plant babies to my collection. Any suggestions?

Break's Over

It's been quite some time since I have even looked at this blog. I made the decision last year to step back from my photography business and take a position that was a little more conducive to family life. Being a photographer was perfect when my children were younger and home during the week. I could stay with them and then put on my photographer hat during the weekend. Now, they've decided to grow up and be involved in their own things...most of which happen in the evenings and on weekends.

While contemplating this decision a secretary position opened at one of the elementary schools in our district and on a whim, I applied. Well, I got the job last August and it's been a whirlwind since then.

The creative side of me is a little sad though. I miss my projects and photos and posting them here. So I've decided to try and keep up here with those little things that make me happy and keep my creative juices flowing. So, here we are again! Here's to new beginnings!

Lists, Lists, Lists

I'm a list maker. I can't help myself.

1. I like to cross things off.
2. I'm caught between being a Type A and a totally spacey creative type.
3. I'm an organized person living in a messy person's body.
4. Short thoughts are easier to read and remember.
5. I could potentially have ADD. (I'm not joking or using that phrase lightly)

IMG_2910 This is one of my favorite ways to journal/blog/whatever you call it - it's for the listmaker in me:

Watching a lot of Detroit Tigers baseball. It's just what happens in my boy-filled house.
Loving my garden right now. There's something new to discover everyday.
Wanting sushi. Totally craving it.
Eating junk lately. Not good for me - gotta get back on track.
Looking forward to a lot more summer fun!
Feeling anxious about some changes that will be taking place in the next few weeks.
Knitting socks for the first time.

A little view into my garden!

Since moving to our new home last fall, I have been so anxious to see what our yard would look like this spring. The original owners of our home were landscape architects and now that the yard is mature, it's gorgeous. There are so many plants and flowers growing - it's a lot to keep up with at times but I appreciate having it done for me and I just have to maintain it. Here's a little peek into some details of what's happening around the house...

(Addie is usually my "helper" but this time, the trampoline was calling....)

I spy 2 tiny tomatoes....

Peppers!

Zucchini!

My cucumbers aren't super happy....

I see lots of kale chips in our future!

Not sure what this is but I love it

Soon to be a huge patch of black-eyed susans

Thanks for taking a tour...can't wait to share more as the warm season progresses!

james + laura | rosewood inn

James and Laura were married on a cloudy day (it never did rain!!) at the always gorgeous Rosewood Inn in Lansing, Michigan. Since I like to let my pictures do the talking, here's a little peek at their day......
I am so excited to get back to blogging and sharing my latest projects, photography and news. It's been a year of discovery, rest and "deciding what I want to be when I grow up"...My brain is spilling with ideas, I have a new home to tackle and I'm on the verge of a new career. It's going to be amazing!
